Have an empty 45gl tank

I have an empty 45gl tank that I really want to get started on but need some advice as to what I should put in the tank. I have this tank in my dinning area so I want it to be lively lol any advice ???

In my tank of Apple snail tank there are empty shells left from snails that have died. Should I leave them in the tank or take them out. Do the shells help provide calcium for the other snails? The shells are completely empty.
